cityWILD Junior Guides

cityWILD's Junior Guide program is part of its workforce development.  Each summer, cityWILD hired local youth ages 14-17 to gecome junior rafting guides as a first time work experience.  Unior Guides attend their own guide school, learning and attaining the same skills required to be a certified guide in the state of Colorado - except that they are not 18, which is a state requirement for a certified raft guide.

cityWILD hires its Junior Guides in April and May each year.  Check back then if you are interested in applying.  Junior Guide photos and bios are posted at the beginning of each summer.

“Read & Jere…showed us pictures of beautiful mountains, trees, rivers, animals, I fell in love. Pictures of African-American students, my own age doing things like: rafting, rock climbing kayaking, and like outdoor activities got me extremely interested in this project…I proved to be one of the most active members there…After being in the program for a few months, I was no longer the quiet Aprille that I once had been. I began to develop great leadership skills. Everything that I achieved during my stint at cityWILD positively translated into my life outside this organization.” – Aprille Nulan, former cityWILD student, currently a Junior at Howard University
