Our Volunteers

Individuals that volunteer on a regular basis for cityWILD are listed below.  Episodic and volunteer groups are not listed.

Lee Mebel

Lee joins our team as a volunteer climbing instructor. He instructs mountaineering with the Colorado Mountain Club and is an avid adventure racer. When not on the mountain he works in human resources for RE/MAX International. Originally from the east coast, Lee has made the front range his home for the last four years. Outside of work and volunteering that’s where you’ll find him. Lee holds a business and geography degree from the University of Mary Washington.

Jamal Bacchus

Jam is originally from Queens, NY and has been living in Denver since 1997. Some of his hobbies include working out, snowboarding and hiking. Jam really enjoys the mountains and his new found love of snowboarding.  Affectionately known at Vin Diesel by the kids, Jam appreciates the opportunity cityWILD provides to urban youth to participate in outdoor activities as it has changed his own life immensely.

Ann-Marie Doerhoff

Ann-Marie grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri. In eighth grade, a week long trail hike in Colorado with her church youth group greatly impacted her life and she wants to pass that experience on to the next generation.    cityWILD is the perfect opportunity to help children improve their life skills, improve their classroom performance, learn about the environment, and learn the joys of the outdoors.   She believes people can accomplish almost any thing with the proper guidance and someone telling them they can.  She went to school at the University of Missouri at Rolla where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. She served in the United States Air Force from 1999 to 2007. During her Air Force Career she was stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base; Kunsan Air Base, Korea; and Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Her hobbies include reading, running, skiing, hiking, cooking, and seeing musicals. She has been married for ten years to her best friend Richard.
Lauren Hunt
Lauren grew up in Riverside, California where she went to school at the University of California Riverside, in which she received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sociology. While she was in school, she spent a summer in Mediteranean town in Spain, where she worked as an English tutor for two children, becoming immersed in Spanish language and culture. The summer after she graduated she lived in Ketchikan, Alaska and worked as a tour guide for backcountry Jeep, hiking and canoeing tours. When she returned to California in fall 2009, she knew she wanted to get involved in outdoor education. She worked at an outdoor institute in the San Bernardino Mountains as a camp counselor for a handful of 12 year old girls–a very good lesson in patience and hard work! In an attempt to move to North Carolina, she got stuck in 7 feet of snow in Flagstaff, Arizona for 3 months before escaping to beautiful, sunny Denver. She is so excited to work with cityWild, and join their efforts in bringing kids closer to nature and helping them achieve their goals.
